The Postgraduate Program in Neurosciences (PGNeuro) is based at the Brain Institute (ICe) which is a Specialized Academic Unit of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), officially inaugurated on May 13, 2011 and offers training at master and doctoral levels.

PGNeuro was created with the aim of establishing a cutting-edge research center of Basic and Applied neuroscience in the State of Rio Grande do Norte. PGNeuro brings together a multidisciplinary body of researchers with international experience and expertise in the main areas of neuroscience. PGNeuro aims to promote maximum freedom of investigation, allowing guided research to be carried out, without restrictions on methods.

Our aim is to meet the national academic demand, including foreign candidates. The Program aims to provide complete and updated training in Neurosciences, with disciplines and research covering molecular, cellular, systemic and computational levels. The candidate's main goal is to pursue an academic career in research and teaching on an international level. To this end, students will be exposed to a broad, interdisciplinary, in-depth and updated training in Neurosciences, with abundant intellectual and material resources for research.

PGNeuro operates in 3 main lines of research: 

(i) Systems & Cognition Neurobiology

(ii) Cellular & Molecular Neurobiology

(iii) Computational Neuroscience, Neuroinformatics, Neuroengineering & Neurotherapy.
